What is Career Coaching?
Career coaching is a process where you (the client) and the coach create a partnership dedicated to the common goal of the client’s weekly agenda and achieving long term career goals. Having a career coach provides you an experienced professional, focused on your detailed agenda, and committed to helping you succeed. The professional training and personal experiences of your career coach helps you work through obstacles, provides intuitive advice, and opens your eyes to new perspectives. Life coaching and specifically career coaching is very similar to hiring a fitness coach to train you for a race. The main difference between fitness coaching and career coaching is that with career coaching you don’t stop when the race is over in 4 months. The tools gained and changes made during your career coaching sessions are lasting changes.
Unlike reading a self-help book or taking a seminar, a coach works with the client on an ongoing basis. The client discovers, tests out ideas, and takes action to achieve specific goals. Coaching provides lasting results.

How to ensure your coaching experience is a success Kid you not, making a big shift in your career is work. If it was easy, everybody would be doing it. You must be ready to make changes and committed to take the time to think, reflect, discuss, challenge and take action. Your coach is there to help you find your own answers, help you create action items, provide sample assignments, and propose new insights. Your coach will absolutely will support you in achieving your listed results. But just like a track coach will not run the race for you, your career coach is not going to create the details of your new career nor write your resume for you.
